BuZZ vs Gossip
Remember how as kids we all loved gossip?
Buzz is pretty much the same as our old-fashioned love for gossip. The only difference is that it’s not as juicy as gossip and it creates good (or bad) reputation, can help (if done well) or hurt business (if ignored) and now it’s connected with Social Commerce which is like a baby eCommerce which is further a subset of the good ol’ E-commerce. That’s how the chain goes.
Look at it this way. You are standing at a bus stop. The bus comes, you get on it and it takes you places. You are happy! So, now imagine, you are your business. And you are standing at a Buzz Stop instead. A Buzz Wagon will come and you need to get on it, if you want to see places. It means if your business wants to see more customers. If you are BuZZZzzz...ing, when the Buzz Wagon comes, you will miss it and be left behind while your competitors will get on it, see places and be very happy. More than you want them to be. It means they will be more visible to customers than you and your business will get blurry in customer’s memory! And you don’t want that. So, the sooner you learn about BuZZ and start managing it to increase your web visibility and web presence, the faster you will have sustainable results. Then, you will be happy :-)
Social networking websites, Facebook, Twitter, Focus Blogs, Industry Blogs etc. are Buzz Wagons. Your own website, Social Commerce shop, E-commerce shop, blog, Social Network pages etc., if done right and updated weekly, can be your own little BuZZ Wagon.
Social Commerce Defined
Read the example below. It is self-explanatory :-)
He likes “this”
She likes “this” too
He likes, She likes, Your Friends like, you like?
Everyone likes, you like?
(Right now they don’t ask, “Why don’t you like?” - that maybe coming)
Good. Now you like.
You like, you buy?
He bought it
She bought it
He bought, She bought, Your Friends bought, you buy?
Everyone bought it, you buy?
(Right now they don’t ask, “Why don’t you buy?” - that maybe coming too, especially with new mandate laws in US of A)
Good you bought.
Now, move to next item.
He likes “that”
She likes “that” too
And the story goes on...
The point to note is this. See the focus - how it was sticking to “that item”? So, the BuZZ was being created on the net by repeated (but not overwhelming) mention of that item. It creates web traction. Long story short, it creates a BuZZ and makes the item more visible to more people and therefore more saleable. Means better business and ultimately the bottom line “revenue”.
Okay, let’s go do some Gossipping now... Err...we mean BuZZing ;-)
